Helping Dad with Dinner

"Just call me bubbles darrrrling..."

Well, the weather in New Zealand is atrocious at the moment. I think should move to Australia or Portland, at least for the summers. Windy, cold and wet. Ick. And by windy I mean cold southerlies from the Antarctic.

I travel to Sydney for work next week for two nights and three days. It will be the first time I been away from Lucy since she was a born. A bit nervous about the trip, Lucy will be fine, it's me that I am worried about.

I won't be going back to the US in August for a visit or to attend my reunion. Airfares simply went up to high. Next year perhaps we will make a visit.

Did you know that there is no yellow/orange cheese in New Zealand? They don't bother to dye it here. Probably a good thing.

Also, hard to find white eggs - not good around Easter time. Apparently kiwis think white eggs are of poorer quality (although there is no difference between brown and white, just the type of chicken) so the white ones don't sell. The also don't store eggs in the chiller, they just leave them out on the shelf.

Right, that's your my update for the day. It's Friday, we are hoping the weather is better for the weekend. We shall see.

Oh, Lucy loves marmite.

Hugs and kisses,

Jen

Alive and Well

Sorry for the lapse in posts for anyone who is checking in. Life has been busy, as usual or (per usual as the kiwi's say).

Lucy and I were planning on a trip to the US in August for two weeks but I will no longer be making the journey. Airfares just went up to high to justify it; perhaps next year.

Lucy is growing and changing each day. She loves to read and for today's tally we have read 10 books to her so far, it's 11:30am. Generally we read at least 20 books in a day, if not more. She seems to add more words to her vocabulary each day and understands heaps more than she can say. Pretty amazing to watch her develop.

Work is good for me. I got a promotion which is nice. I will travel to Australia at the end of July for a conference and to Taupo the next week for a conference as well. Vaughan and Lucy will have fun hanging out together.

All the Harrison's are well except that Ethan broke his foot. The couch or the floor seem to have gotten him ( no one is sure!).

Margo (Lucy calls her "Marmo") is 4 weeks old now and seems very peaceful and content. She sleeps a lot during the day which is good for her mum, Julia. Lucy is obsessed with babies so she loves seeing Marmo.

Vaughan is busy at work and also has cabin fever. The weather has been SHOCKINGLY bad the past few weeks, cold and rainy. This has put a stop to his outdoor pursuits (building our vege garden). The sun is out today though and he is out for run with Lou Lou as I type.

We had an indoor 4th of July BBQ last weekend with our friends Mike and Allison and their friend Liza visiting from Texas. We filled the house with smoke grilling the burgers, Liza got locked in the bathroom, Soren spiked a fever and Vaughan walked Lucy, in the rain, for over an hour to get her to go to sleep...and it snowed. So, all in all a busy night. But the food was great! We had burgers, a beat root salad, German potato salad, chips and salsa and some yummy southern cookies Liza made and I have no idea what they are called! Sorry Liza! Lisa also knits and I need to get some more pointers from her before she goes home as I am tyring to knit....TRYING.
