Lucy's Playgroup

Here are some photos of Lucy's playgroup. We used to all get together when the kiddos were babies at the Wallaceville Playcentre. Now we can hardly keep up with them! I love this shot!

Lucy loves cats and dogs

From our lounge we watch the world go by and should someone from said world go by with a dog (no one walks cats, do they?) then Lucy must see it and tell us there is a "woof woof!" Although she says "uff, uff". She doesn't appear to be scared of dogs or cats at all. She is fascinated by them. This is Lucy with Rocky the cat.

Lucy with her cousins Gabe and Ethan on Easter

We his some Easter eggs for the kids and had fun helping them find them. We then went over to Auntie Jane's for Easter dinner. It was a cracker of a day! At least 25 degrees in Upper Hutt.

Easter

The Easter holiday in New Zealand begins tomorrow. Everything shuts down for Good Friday and on Easter Sunday. No commercials on the TV either! Not that I watch much TV anymore. I have Fridays off anyway but I will have Monday off and Vaughan will have a nice long four day weekend. He intends to spend most of his time working on landscaping.

Mr Whippy

Mr Whippy is New Zealand's ice cream man. He stops outside our house every Sunday at around 11:00am. He plays Greensleaves, the saddest sounding song ever. Have a listen!

2nd Anniversary

Vaughan and I were married on 18 March 2006 in Hahei. This is my favorite photo from the day.

We have had a very busy and full two years. My move to NZ, our wedding, Lucy, a new home - it has been a challenging, exhausting and thoroughly wonderful two years!
Happy Anniversary to us! XXOO

The Fault Zone

This sign is at Harcourt park in Upper Hutt. I am not sure if the message should worry me or not.

Harcourt Park - Fall Day in Upper Hutt

Harcourt Park is a great park in Upper Hutt. Lucy and I took a wander the other day and found this cool bridge over looking the river.

Banigans Shananigans

Lucy is CHEEKY! Her nickname, for some reason, is also Banigans or Lou Lou Banigans. Some odd reference to Lucy looking like one of the hobbits in Lord of the Rings. Anywho, this is classic Banigans Shananigans. : )

Lucy the Climber

Lucy can now get on and off the bed, couches and ottoman. As you can see, she also loves to climb up on her chair - which is not all that stable and causes me great anxiety. But, if and when she falls down she simply says "uh-oh" and gets back up again for another go. She's a tough cookie.

Hello!

Well, I never thought I was on the phone that much, but I guess am.

Front Yard

Vaughan is done with the backyard for now and has moved on to the front yard. He has been shaping the lay of the land and got some free dirt from a guy down the road last weekend. He has been using a HUGE roller (his grand-dads) to flatten the dirt down for the grass. We hope to put down grass seed in about two weeks!

Buzzy Bee

For Lucy's first birthday we got her a Buzzy Bee. A classic Kiwi pull along toy. It makes a flapping noise when you pull it along. Lucy has just got the hang of it.

Mom is Back in Redmond

These are some of my favorite photos from my mom's visit.

Well, my mom arrived on 31 January and departed on 28 February. It was wonderful to have her here and the month went too quick. The first week she, Lucy and Vaughan were all sick. Then she came right and had time to connect with Lucy. By the second week she and Lucy were old pals and they had a good time hanging out with one another. My mom had the magic touch and was even able to get her to take a nap!
During the last two weeks my mom looked after Lucy when I went to work, which was very cool. Lucy didn't have to go to daycare and they got to hang out together. We had some great laughs and good fun while she was here and I was very sad to see her go. It was wonderful to have her support while she was here. Hurry back! : )

Lucy and Vaughan

We have heaps of windows and ranch sliders (aka sliding glass doors) in our home. Lucy likes to follow dad around the house and watch him work outside.

The Rocks and the Beautiful Back Yard

Vaughan's Landscaping Service

Vaughan has spent the past three weekends sifting, shoveling, moving, dumping and flattening dirt for our backyard. He went through three big piles of dirt in the front yard to remove all the stones so we have quality top soil in the backyard for grass. He has been at it all day each weekend....even in rain! We intend to use the leftover rocks for the base of our vegi garden on the side of the house.

Duathlon 6 April

My friend Allison and another friend of hers are going to do a duathlon on 6 April. There are a series of these events around New Zealand for women. The distances aren't that great but I like having an event to train for, it keeps me motivated.

So far this week I have run three times (30, 30 and 45 minutes) and lifted twice. My goal is to run four times a week and add in one or two bike rides a week. The race is a 3.5 km run, 10km bike and a 1.5 km run - so not very far but it should be fun!

Here is a shot of Allison and I and are bubs (Ruby is with Allison, she also has a 4.5 year old!)
And a link to the race we are doing:
