Helping with dinner.

Still alive and well!

Sorry for the lapse in posts (is anyone reading?) : ) Things are good, busy. We are busy keeping up with Lucy, she is talking all the time and adding new words. She still loves reading, playing with her baby and hanging out with her cousins. Vaughan is still working on the vege garden. He got a fair amount of work done yesterday before the rain and wind set in today. Last night the Harrison clan came over for lasagna. The cousins love playing together and Julia is doing well. (Margot is now 13 days old.)

The weather was nice enough yesterday that Lucy and I were able to make it to the outdoor market for our weekly vege and fruit run. Today (Sunday) I went for an hour long run with Allison and Vaughan took Lucy for a run. After a nap we took Lucy for a swim. She really enjoys the pool!

I am headed to Sydney for three days at the end of July for work and hoping to somehow make it to the US for two weeks or so in August. Would love to see my family, friends, show Lucy off and attend my 20 year high school reunion.

So that is all the news that is fit to print.

Happenings

Sorry for my lapse in posts. Life just gets busier and busier with a 16 month old. Lucy is going great guns! She is saying more and more words, knows more words and LOVES to try and sing the ABCs. She can sing "A B B B B"... : ) "c" is hard to say still. She also really enjoys a pram her cousin Gabe loaned her and pushing the "ba-bee" around. She gives it cuddles and pats the baby on the back.

The weather is horrible today. Allison and I did our long run today instead of yesterday. Luckily we made it out the door before the rain really set in. It was a good run!

We took Gran (Anne's mum) to the bus depot this morning. She is headed north to Tauranga for one of her granddaughter's wedding (Lauren). I was able to get some knitting tips from Gran which were much needed. Lucy and I went to the library this week and I stumbled upon some knitting books with patterns for babies and kids. I have since bought myself some knitting needles and yarn. I know, CRAZY! (I also bake a lot these days.) I seem to hold the yarn too tight. I have to give it another go.

Anne is back from her 5 week European vacation on Friday and Julia will be induced on Monday which is good. Anne will be able to rest some before becoming a grandparent again!

Ethan and Gabe spent the night on Saturday night. We went into Wellington and played on the beach for a bit and then watch some airplanes land and take off. We had a good time and they are very well behaved and fun to have over. Lucy loves spending time with them as well.

Queen's Birthday

Well, it is Monday the 2nd June. Today is a statutory holiday in New Zealand, the Queen's Birthday. We have a day off from work. It is not actually the Queen's Birthday today (her real birthday is 21 April), nor is THE Queen really the Queen of New Zealand, so, I don't really get it. But I get a day off from work to spend with my family so Happy Birthday!

Wikipedia says the following about the holiday: "In New Zealand, the holiday is the first Monday in June, and owing to the climate being colder than Australia's, usually serves as the opening weekend to the country's ski season."
