Sevens the Superbowl

I don't even know what two teams are playing the Superbowl this year. But the Sevens are on this weekend in Wellington and it is the hottest ticket in town! The "Sevens" is an International Rugby Tournament that arrives in NZ each year. International Leauge Rugby teams play against each other with only two 7 minute halfs to prevail. The game is quick and exciting and the crowd really draws all the attention because everyone dresses up!

Plunket

Lucy had her one year check up today at Plunket. See the link below if you are interested in Plunket. They look after the development of children in NZ. Lucy weighs 9.46 kgs and is 75 cn long. For weight she is in the 50th percentile and for height the 75th percentile. So she is long and lean.

Grandma De Wald arrives tomorrow!

Lucy's Grandmother DeWald arrives tomorrow from Redmond, WA. It will take her just about 24 hours of flying and layovers to get here. She is in the air to SFO right now and then on to Sydney and finally Wellington. My dad is not making the trip this time. My mom will be here for about one month and we should have lots of adventures! She and Lucy were born on the same day.

Lucy is Turning One

Lucy will be a year old on 26 January. It is hard to believe that an entire year has gone by since her birth. Obviously she has changed and grown over the year but I think Vaughan and I have grown even more. She provides us with the opportunity to really examine our priorities and what is important to us. A year ago my life changed forever and for the better. : )

Dunedin - Steepest Street in the World Baldwin Street

Didn't seem all that steep to me.

Dunedin Surf

Vaughan went to university at the University of Otago in Dunedin. Beaufitul city with lovely ocean views and good surf. He surfed a great deal when he was there.

At one point in the day, Lucy had had enough! : )

Wanaka

We had a great time in Wanaka and on the South Island! Vaughan had a challenging but rewarding race and Lucy did well with all the travel. Wanaka is beautiful and the race was very well organised. I am sure we will go down there again! Here is a photo of Team Vaughan!

Ironman

We are off to Wanaka tomorrow. Wanaka is a small town on the South Island of New Zealand (Upper Hutt is on the southern tip of the North Island). Vaughan is going to compete in Challenge-Wanaka. An Ironman distance race. It should be a great adventure. It will be his 4th Ironman. I get nervous watching him race, but I know he will do well. His mum (Anne), Gran, Uncle and Aunt (Bruce and Claire) will all be coming down along with our friend Ally from Australia. It should be great fun. There will only be about 200 competitors at any one time on the course (120 individuals, teams are allowed as well). It should be totally different from being at an Ironman owned race where there are generally 2000 competitors. Should be low key but maximum effort from the competitors.

The race website is www.challenge-wanaka.com

Being a Mum

I reckon my profile picture sums up motherhood quite well. A happy and hopeful observer of all that Lucy does and is. Motherhood is brilliant!

Beginnings

The hardest part about doing most things is just starting. So here I go...again. This is my second Blog, not sure what happened to my first one. It seems to have disappeared. I've tried facebook but it doesn't really do what I want it to do although I have connected with heaps of folks that I haven't heard from in a long time. So, we shall give Blogging a go! Generally I want to use this space to update my family and friends about what is going on with me, Vaughan and Lucy in New Zealand -without spam, superpokes or pop ups!
